At Summit Breast Care, our mission is to provide state of the art breast care to all patients in a calm and caring manner.

Summit Breast Care has achieved national recognition as specialists in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer. We treat thousands of patients annually, not just from the tri-state area but from all over the world. Our doctors continue to be recognized as 'Top Doctors' by national and local publications including New Jersey Savvy Living, New Jersey Life and the Castle Connelly Guide.

Our practice accepts most insurance plans and we offer options for those who are uninsured or those who are experiencing financial hardship.  

History

The seeds for Summit Breast Care were planted in the mind and spirit of Dr. Jan Huston in the late 1980s during her tenure as a general and vascular surgeon. As the only female physician in her practice, she became the surgeon of choice for many female patients who were dealing with breast cancer, along with the powerful emotions that accompanied their diagnosis.

In 1999, acting upon her calling to focus specifically on treating breast disease, she left her practice to found Summit Breast Care, a practice devoted to providing women with affordable and comprehensive breast care. Dr. Michelle O'Shea, the managing partner, is based at the group's Sparta location. Dr. O'Shea was a resident surgeon at Saint Barnabas when she first met Jan, and joined the Summit Breast Care team in 2001. Dr. Diana Addis subsequently joined the growing practice in 2005 and is based in the Springfield office. Dr. Addis has taught surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and served as Director of Breast Services at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Elmhurst New York. Dr. Tamica White most recently joined Summit Breast Care. Her training was completed at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell University.

In 2007, Dr. Huston became the Medical Director of the Connie Dwyer Breast Center at Saint Michael's Hospital in Newark. She embraced the opportunity as a way to continue the mission upon which Summit Breast Care was founded...to provide state-of- the-art breast care to all women in a calm and caring manner.

In 2009, Summit Breast Care celebrated its 10th anniversary, and continues to grow and evolve in its mission to meet its patients' needs for expert treatment and compassionate care at all of its practice locations.
